This next suburb is an Eastern Suburbs jaunt which is more famous for the council of the same name than the suburb itself.
Waverley
Heading south from Bondi Junction, I entered this suburb possibly for my first time. Unlike some of my previous stops, in Waverley I didn't have much an idea of what I'd see so I just started walking. At first, I didn't see too much to write home about, with Waveley's bowling club being the most interesting thing I'd come across,
but then I turned off the main road and into the suburb's residential heart, where Waverley began to show its personality.
You know that tiny house fad that's going around at the moment? Well it turns out that Waverley started it all before it was cool. Here, adorable duplexes and terraces are the norm, with shared walls and funky designs.
And if you can afford it? How about a freestanding smallboy.
Now, not every house here is small,
some are just old (but still pretty).
As I continued on, I found out that Waverley has a non-housing related claim to fame. It turns out they've also got some pretty impressive churches,
which are next to more interesting houses anyway.
Continuing past the churches, I proceeded towards the suburb's western border.
Interestingly, my exit from Waverley was through a six-way intersection known as the Charing Cross. A six-way intersection sounds horrible, but this one wasn't too bad due to the handful of interesting buildings on the corner(s).
After crossing many streets, I began on my next suburb.
Waverley: Tiny homes, big churches.
